Vietjet to start 3 direct flights to Russia next year
Budget carrier Vietjet Air has announced plans to launch direct flights from three Vietnamese tourist hotspots to Moscow next July.
Its first-ever direct flights to Europe will connect the Russian capital with Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Nha Trang twice a week using Airbus A330-300 aircraft.
The Hanoi and HCMC services will start on July 3. The service to Nha Trang beach town in Khanh Hoa Province will start on July 10.
In 2019, the year before the onset of the Covid pandemic, Vietnam received a record 646,000 tourists from Russia, making it the sixth largest tourism source market after mainland China, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and the U.S.
Russian tourists used to spend an average of $1,600 in Vietnam while the overall average for foreign visitors was $900, according to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism.
After two years of border closures, Vietnam reopened its doors to foreign tourists last month.
It has received 978 foreign tourists who have visited Quang Nam, Khanh Hoa and Kien Giang.
